Good is the enemy of great. Dream!

Dreams create the possibility of creating something better than that we already have. They challenge the status quo and give us a glimpse of how things could be.

There is a saying that goes: “Good is the enemy of great.” In other words, by saying that something is “good enough” we miss the opportunity of turning it into something so much better. This saying can be extended to : Great is the enemy of dreams coming true. By defining a society ( or a company, or organization, or individual) as being developed, by believing that we already have a solution that is great, we miss the potential that can be found in having daring new dreams. If you do not have new dreams, then they cannot come true – and we also miss the chance to improve on things that already exist.

As people, we do not seem to know where we are headed nor what we are expected to take part in and create. We realize that we must do something, but we do not know what, how or why. The results are confusion and resignation. In part, this is because our politicians lack visions and dreams and this attitude then trickles down to the rest of society. However, it is too simplistic just to blame it all on politicians as it can never be solely another person’s responsibility to see that we keep on dreaming and that we make these dreams a reality.

How big are your own dreams? What hopes do you hold for the future when it comes to your own country? If we do not believe that tomorrow will get better, then the future will never improve.

But it is not only the lack of dreams and hope that limit the people, our tendency to impose artificial boundaries on ourselves is just as limiting.
